Lower School Cheer

Macon-East Youth Cheer Program

KNIGHT spirit was evident on Saturday, August 20th, when 64 cheerleaders from the lower school attended a cheer clinic at Macon-East Academy.  The junior varsity and varsity cheer squads, under the leadership of their cheer coaches, Kathy Loomis and Brooke Rinehart , directed the clinic.  Each squad learned a dance routine and cheers that will be performed at pep rallies and games.  The Wee Princesses and Little Damsels (K-3 through 2nd grades) will perform at varsity pep rallies and at halftime of the home varsity games.  The Termite and Pee Wee squads (3rd through 6th grades) will perform at the junior varsity pep rallies and games.  At the conclusion of the clinic, each girl received a spirit bag, sports bottle, and red, white, and blue treats.

The Junior Varsity cheerleaders from Macon East are gearing up for the 2011-2012 season! After weeks of practice, they attended AISA Cheer Camp at Huntingdon College last month. Each squad was given the opportunity to compete for awards in home pom routine, cheer and extreme routines. The Macon East squad placed second in home pom and third in cheer in the large squad division.

Morgan Long, Kenzie Gourlay, Taylor Jackson, and Dallas Sanders were named All-American Cheerleaders. Sanders also won the Camp Jump-Off competition. The squad also leads two of the elementary cheer squads at Macon East. They recently held a lock-in to prepare dances and cheers for these girls, and for the next AISA cheer competition in September!

Congratulations to all of the Junior Varsity Cheerleaders!
