Fun Run 2024 – What a Blast!

Macon East Academyโ€™s PTO hosted our annual Fun Run on February 2nd. The students and teachers look forward to this fun event. Our students and teachers love the interaction from the Booster Fun Run Crew. The Booster Crew visited with the students everyday of the week leading up to the Fun Run for fun challenges and learning important character values. Because of their success in reaching their goals, the students got to mummify a Booster Crew member, silly string a Booster Crew member, and the 4th through 6th grades got to have a color run! The teachers also did incentives with their classes including movie days and ice cream days. Because of the great success of this fundraiser, we will be able to purchase many updates needed for the school. Thank you to all our Sponsors, Parents, Grandparents, and many volunteers that helped this be a big success!

This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Macon East’s Lathan Johnson signs with Alabama State

Macon East Academy’s very own center fielder, Lathan Johnson, has officially accepted an offer from Alabama State University to continue her career in softball, marking the beginning of her incredible journey as a Hornet.

Lathan’s contributions to the Knights cannot be overstated, as she played a vital role in leading the team to victory in the 2023 Alabama Independent School Association Class AAA state championship at Lagoon Park last May.

With an impressive career on-base percentage of .800, Lathan has proven to be a force to be reckoned with on the field. In nearly 100 attempts to steal a base, she has only been thrown out five times, showcasing her exceptional speed and agility. Her coaches describe her as a true threat, possessing both power and speed. Lathan’s ability to assess the situation and execute the perfect play sets her apart from the rest.

Wounded Warrior Project

Macon East Academyโ€™s Lower School collected donations for the Wounded Warrior Project with a penny war competition between grades. Students brought in money to help their grade win the competition. Pennies and paper money earned positive points for their grade, while silver coins could be used to subtract points from other grades. After careful calculation and much anticipation, Fifth Grade had the highest number of points, winning the penny war! The Lower School raised a total of $1313.71 to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project.
